I have not been out at the Saturday runs in a couple of weeks, but also have not seen many of you in a long time. So....What's up?  What are you training for this year?  Goals? Interesting news about you/your family?

Me-
Still planning on 7 Rock and Roll events this year.  Dallas this weekend will be #2. I am registered for San Diego in June, but that's the only other one confirmed so far.

I am in for New York this year, so I will be training hard for that starting after San Diego in June.  Can't wait to run this race!!

Other than those, the usual mix of local races, with the occasional out of town trip.

I am still around and will see you all in two weeks when I can run with the group again.

First, good luck in Dallas.  And, I'm jealous that your running NYC.

It's been a mixed bag of news for me.  I've re-injured myself, not anything real bad.  However, I'm little frustrated.  As for races, I have the Seabrook Lucky Trails Marathon coming up.  It will be my first time to run the marathon at  Seabrook.  I would like to run a Boston Qualifier at Seabrook.  I'll be returning to Boston in April.  I have no expectations for Boston.  I just want to go and have fun.  After running Boston, I will likely take a couple of months off from racing and hard training.  I'm sad to see that this will be the last year for the Summer Kick-Off Run.  I will for sure volunteer.  I may just run it to have fun.  In the summer, I hope to ready myself for a couple of 5Ks in Arkansas. I'll be running the Chicago Marathon this year.  I have a bunch of friends that are heading up; it should be a blast.

I'll be out there this Saturday with the group.  It will be my third week in a row.  It's great to see some familiar faces and some new ones.

I plan on getting back out some starting in April...my review class finally ENDS!! For now its been many late night runs with my dog.

Upcoming Events:
Seabrook Marathon
Hells Hills 50k
Boston Marathon
Contemplating the Beaumont Marathon

Very strongly entertaining the idea of training for a 100 mile race next winter or spring to run in honor of my mother who is in the final stages of pancreatic cancer. Thinking maybe Rocky Raccoon next February since its close enough to Houston I could recruit some pacers for the middle of the night. I knew from the moment I began training for my 1st marathon that I could qualify for Boston...but I'm not sure I really have it in me to FINISH a 100 miler....this is going to be the biggest challenge I've ever undertaken. So the plan will be to find several 50k to 50 mile events this summer and fall to get strong base mileage in and decide whether I'm really crazy enough to do this.

Current Race Plans
Seabrook Half
Volunteer for the LC Wellness 5K Walk/Run
Angie's Half
I'm currently teaching the Personal Fitness Merit Badge to a group of Boy Scouts so I'm going to encourage them to run the Summer Kick-Off Run as motivation to train and improve their running test results over the next 12 weeks.  If I can get three or four of them to sign up, I'll run it with them.
The Columbus Marathon is looming as a possibility for the Fall.  Steven says he wants to run it since he will be starting at The Ohio State University this fall.  It would be a good excuse to check on him.

The forecast this Saturday morning is mid 40's so hopefully lots of people will be out to enjoy one of the last near perfect mornings before Summer kicks in.

As of 1 Jan, I started officially training for the Lonestar tri at the end of April... Rehab is over!  Yippee!!!  My goal is to continue to be able to enjoy running long distances.

I have been training mostly on my own, however, recently hooked up with a hillarious cast of off-the-wall, in-your-face taunting, friendly, enjoyable runners who go by the moniker of "Fab 5".  I dare not identify them by name, and just posting this will probably garner repercussions.

Cheers!

wow, that sounds like a very unique and great group you joined Mark..oh wait..I resemble that statement!  Shocked  Repercussions??? Really?!!  Surely not from that group!! Bawhahahahaha.....

Since my Achilles injury, I have been doing alot of spinning and very little running.  I was released a couple of weeks ago to run "alittle" and basically my training plan is to lead up to Angie's Half. Which, I am running with my best friend! This will be her first half! So excited!

I am doing the MS150 the weekend after Angies!

After that, I am not sure!  Undecided

Mark...SOOOOOO happy for you!!!
Fred....Do I get a Personal Fitness Merit Badge if I run the Summer Kick off with you?!! Just askin....

Julie, you exceed the maximum age for a Scout ever so slightly and are therefore not eligible for any Merit Badges.  I'm sure we will be able to figure out an appropriate award for you to keep you motivated.

Mark - It's great to see you back out every Saturday.  I know Lonestar will be extra enjoyable for you.  Don't pick up any bad habits from that group you've been running with.

I am doing the Dallas R'nR, Angies, and TriGirls super sprint triathalon. I guess I better blow the dust off my bike! huh! My plan is to try to become more consistent with my midweek runs and now bike rides. Going to smatter some 5K/10K's in there.  Chuck, I saw the black TIR shirts and I agree, the white ones were nicer, not sure how the black would do in the summertime!  Grin

Been trying to run consistently which has been a little challenging due to work and travel, and won't get any easier in the next few weeks. However, I do have AHC HM on the schedule...nothing after that.  Guess it's time to start thinking of a new goal. Huh

I have been spending my evenings in the gym doing cardio, weight training and swimming.  I have been walking weekends at Frankie Carter Randolph Park and I have tuned up my bike and will start riding this weekend. I am thinking that I may do ComBat this year or some other sprint Triathlon.  I am enjoying the cross training.  If someone would be interested in tagging up for a bike ride on Sundays I am going to be starting the Webster to Alvin Buccee's ride which is about 16 to 18 miles. There is still a good shoulder to ride on and Sundays are pretty quiet before 9:00am. Also if anyone would like some help in learning how to tune up your bike for the riding season just get with me and I can help you.  Good luck everyone.

I've been doing some training with my dog Annie.  I've at last come across a collar that allows us to walk together so that she can't irritate my back/side strain.  I've tried all kinds and at last hit upon the halti as the least "offensive" to her.  We're actually starting to run together now and she likes that a lot more.  I think she's going to increase my pace because she's definitely faster than I am.  I'm also getting in some weight training and some longer runs on the treadmill. As far as races, I'm looking forward to AHC! and the Warrior Dash.

I've been laying low since Houston and working a lot on the weekends. I'm signed up for Chicago again and hope to qualify for Boston. They have awesome pace groups + fast course + good weather (hopefully) = 3.45 (or better!) I'm also planning to do Houston again, and The Hottest Half this summer.
I plan to help out at Angie's 1/2 and cheer you all on! I need to look up some 5K/10Ks to do, but have been enjoying running for running lately. I'll get back in training mode soon w/speed and hill work most likely in April/May.
Miss you all,

i've been trying to train consistently for "Angie's Half".... lacking motivations at times, but getting out there Roll Eyes Shocked

I have not made it to Saturday morning runs....don't like to be out there alone.... so i would like to know if there is anyone out there on Saturdays at my pace of 15min / mile

I'm now unemployed so been staying busy desperately seeking for new employment.

looking forward to AHC ! Grin
